The second Collaborative meeting of 2024 brought nearly seventy Collaborative partners to the Sunset Room At The Vista in Elizabeth Township on Thursday, May 30 from 8:30-11:00am. The meeting featured a keynote from Dr. Sera MathewDirector, Equitable and Inclusive Teaching at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Mathew focused her keynote on The Landscape of DEI and Implications for Community Practice. In addition, the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Racial Justice (DEIRJ) Action Team shared proposed action items for the upcoming year and engaged Collaborative partners in table discussions to provide feedback on what would be most beneficial for personal and organizational growth around DEI. Meeting goals included:

  • Offering a look at the current DEI landscape and implications for community serving organizations.
  • Engaging in small group discussions about the role of DEI for Collaborative partners.
  • Providing an update on the recruitment process for Vision Council members.
  • Completing meeting survey.

The next Collaborative meeting will be held in September 2024 with a focus on the work that the Civic and Policy Engagement Action Team has done with the Jefferson Votes initiative as well as updates on the Jefferson Regional Foundation Strategic and Communications plans.
