The Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank (WPADB) was founded in 2012 to help close the diaper gap for families in need across Western PA. Our mission is to ensure that babies, children, and adults have access to clean, dry diapers and hygiene supplies so they can live with dignity and good health. We distribute essential items—diapers, wipes, period products, and adult incontinence supplies—through a growing network of over 50 partner agencies, including food pantries, schools, family support centers, and health clinics. These partners identify families in need and distribute supplies monthly to help bridge the gap left by public assistance programs, which do not cover diapers or hygiene products. In the Jefferson area, WPADB has significantly expanded access to services through funding and collaboration with the Jefferson Regional Foundation. We host mobile diaper distributions and pop-up events with trusted community partners, providing direct access to diapers and period products for local families. We also supply Jefferson-based organizations with inventory for ongoing distribution to residents. In addition to our distribution work, WPADB leads regional advocacy to remove the stigma around diaper need, push for policy change, and raise awareness of hygiene insecurity as a public health issue. By building coalitions and leveraging community support, we make essential items available to thousands of families each year—including many right in the Jefferson region. Through these programs, WPADB strengthens the health and economic stability of families across the region and works to ensure that no parent has to choose between diapers and food, or risk a child’s health due to lack of basic supplies. If needed, we can connect you with partner agencies in the Jefferson area who can speak to the impact of our programs, such as Jefferson Community Collaborative members, local health centers, or early childhood providers we serve. Additionally, the Jefferson Regional Foundation has been a key supporter of our expansion in the area and may be able to offer insight into our community collaborations.
