Collaborative Meeting

Please join us on Thursday, February 27 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Commonwealth Charter Academy in the Waterfront (162 East Bridge St, Homestead, PA 15120) for the first Collaborative Meeting of 2025. Lunch will be provided for all attendees from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM with the meeting beginning exactly at 12:30 PM.

Informed by our partners in the Civic and Policy Engagement Action Team, this meeting will focus on nonprofit advocacy and strategies for building meaningful engagement with county government partners. The panel discussion will be moderated by Phil Koch, Vice President, Policy and Community Impact at The Pittsburgh Foundation, and will include:

  • Erin Dalton, Director of the Allegheny County Department of Human Services
  • Dr. Iulia Vann, Director of the Allegheny County Health Department
  • Dr. Shannah Tharp Gilliam, Director for the Area Agency on Aging

The meeting will also feature Rich Lord, Managing Editor, PublicSource, who will highlight resources available to support advocacy efforts and storytelling in promoting community needs.

Participants will have the opportunity to participate in two table discussions to brainstorm techniques to strengthen relationships with county departments and to develop strategies for collaborating with community partners to advocate for a specific issue.

Parking is accessible in the lot outside of Commonwealth Charter Academy across from Barnes & Noble in the Waterfront. Commonwealth Charter Academy is located at the site of the old Macy’s building.
