For only the second time in its history, the American Red Cross has declared a national blood crisis.  Blood donations have fallen to a 4-year summer low. This shortage comes during the height of trauma season, when hospitals often experience increased demand for blood due to serious injuries and medical emergencies. The shortage is especially critical for Type O Positive and Type B Negative blood.

A readily available blood supply is essential to modern healthcare. Without blood donations, emergency rooms, maternity wards, cancer treatment centers, and many other critical healthcare services cannot operate effectively.

There are several ways you and your organization can help:

1. Encourage employees, colleagues, family members, and community partners to schedule a blood donation appointment at RedCrossBlood.org.
2. Share information about the emergency blood shortage through your social media channels, employee communications, newsletters, and other outreach platforms.
