Collaborative Meeting
Please join us on Thursday, November 21 from 8:30AM to 11:00AM at Commonwealth Charter Academy in the Waterfront (162 East Bridge St, Homestead, PA 15120) for the second Collaborative meeting of Fall 2024.
In response to feedback from Jefferson Community Collaborative partners, the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Racial Justice (DEIRJ) Action Team has extended an invitation to the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania to facilitate a Racial Wealth Gap Simulation. The simulation is a highly engaging activity that highlights thirteen federal policies that have contributed to the racial wealth gap and the efforts underway to address this systemic issue. Participants use cards to simulate the cumulative impact of these policies over time and will have opportunities for group networking and discussion throughout. Meeting goals include:
-Participate in a review of historical policies that have contributed to the racial wealth gap and the current efforts aimed at addressing this systemic issue.
-Engage fully in the Racial Wealth Gap Simulation to gain a deeper understanding of its implications on community practice.
-Consider next steps for sharing your insights from the simulation with your organization and pursuing ongoing learning.
A light continental breakfast will be provided. Please note that the simulation will begin exactly at 8:30am.
Parking is accessible in the lot outside of Commonwealth Charter Academy across from Barnes & Noble in the Waterfront. Commonwealth Charter Academy is located at the site of the old Macy’s building.
RSVP to join us here.
