On Thursday, October 20 the Jefferson Community Collaborative hosted its final panel discussion in the Jefferson Votes Lunch and Learn Series on Disinformation in Voting. Our panel of speakers including Lara Putnam, Co-Lead of the Pitt Disinformation Lab and Wasi Mohamed, Senior Policy Officer at The Pittsburgh Foundation discussed:
- What disinformation is and why we should care
- Examples of elections-related disinformation we anticipate in 2022
- Best practices for organizations in building resiliency to disinformation
- How disinformation affects marginalized communities
Attendees also learned about the resources available through our Jefferson Votes initiative, including a series of webpages of information for voting readiness in Pennsylvania and a toolkit of materials to support organization’s voter engagement efforts. Check out the video below from the workshop as well as the resources that Lara shared from the Pitt Disinformation Lab on Mitigating Election Disinformation.
