Program Description

The Forbes Funds (TFF) advances the well-being of our region by helping human service and community-based nonprofits build their management capacity and increase the impact of their mission work. At TFF, we believe that no single organization can solve systemic problems. That is why we invest in collaborative efforts between change-driven nonprofit organizations that are committed to making a difference. We provide nonprofits with resources like grantmaking, mentorship, and learning forums to enable them to manage a disruptive event, improve operations, and prepare for the future.

Through our various learning cohorts, roundtables, peer circles, and online learning curriculums, TFF increases the skillsets of community members and nonprofit leaders. Our core programs strengthen nonprofits financially, operationally, and programmatically.

•Learning & Education: TFF provides (free of charge) executive coaching to nonprofit professionals and board members. We also develop and deliver cohort-style learning programs and award digital badges to signify professional development.

•Grantmaking: The Forbes Funds’ Management Assistance Grants are awarded to nonprofit collaboratives to support the cost of hiring third-party consultation for a collaborative capacity-building project. Additionally, the Catalytic Communities C3 program provides place-based, catalytic funding to resilient, Pittsburgh neighborhoods to co-design with leaders to tackle their community’s individual challenges and ensure that necessary services and opportunities are reaching residents, all while growing the skill set of these leaders who live and work within the community.

•GPNP is a growing coalition of over 500 nonprofit organizations leveraging their collective power. GPNP membership provides public policy analysis, education, advocacy, and a portfolio of discounts on products and services that meet the current needs of individual members and the nonprofit sector as a whole.

•Community Development: TFF continues to support community development via the Black Equity Coalition, The Commons, Innovation Lab, and the International Anti-Racism Institutional Wireframe Cohort (ARC).
